Marquee Hire Scotland – Autumn Catch-up
Marquee Hire Scotland – Autumn catch up
Sorry it has been a while since our last blog, but we had a very busy end to the season! While we are normally wrapping things up after the first weekend in September this year we find ourselves nearly at the end of October with weddings still happening and more events still to come in November and December.
July, August and September were varied and busy months. We have enjoyed working at some new venues in the form of the the (very cool) Carlowrie Castle, Tillmouth Park, Pittormie, Harvest Moon Holidays, The Study in Minto, Dundas Castle, Sprouston Village Hall and Ingliston Country Club, but we were equally delighted to be back at some old favourites, including Bowhill, Harmony House, Clint Lodge, Greywalls, the Roxburghe Hotel, Floors Castle, Ravensheugh Log Cabin, the Haining, Abbotsford, Heriot Watt, the Murrayfield Hotel, Cherrytrees, Thomas Morton Hall, the Buccleuch Arms Hotel, Smailholm Village Hall, Bothal Castle and Gilmerton House.
We are so lucky to work with a huge number of wedding clients, and each and every one has their own idea about how they want their marquee to look. This means every day is different here at Best Intent – so thanks must go to our brides and grooms, and their various family and friends, who keep us constantly on our toes and make us try new things! We have loved doing completely clear roofs at Dundas and Floors Castle, fairylight canopies with crystal chandeliers for Gaynor and Kristina, lanterns at the Roxburghe, pom-poms at Gilmerton House, black lining with fairylights and gold organza for Liggy Morgan (our favourite cake creator!), a poled marquee in a sea of wild flowers for Mel and an unlined marquee with festoon lights for Amy and David – to name but a few.
We have also really enjoyed being involved in some brilliant outdoor events – the Massed Pipe Band Day at Floors Castle was bigger and better than ever this year, and the revamped Galloway Country Fair was steered to awards success with the expert help of Vantage Events. Burgham, Central Scotland and Hendersyde Horse Trials were all successful and well run equestrian events in the second half of the eventing season. We loved being back in the Lake District w
ith Across the Divide – at an even more remote site that usual – and the ever brilliant Borders Book Festival was enhanced by a Food Tent in 2015. We had an increased presence at Border Union Show and the Edinburgh Festival this year, we were involved in the inaugural 100 Bands in the Borders event, and we have enjoyed the challenge of some shed dressing and perking up of the Buccleuch Hunt tent for parties. We also supplied marquees for the hotly anticipated opening of the Borders Railway – a milestone in Scottish Borders history that we were thrilled to be a part of.
Now we find ourselves nearly at the end of October with a wedding at Kippilaw House, another near Hawick and the Christmas Market at the Alnwick Gardens to look forward to. We are also excited to be involved with the International Gundog League Retriever Championships at Drumlanrig in December. In the meantime the team are busy doing quotes and meetings, and repairing and cleaning the marquee equipment. We also have staff training to do, health and safety to review and Gregor to get through his lorry driving test! Never a dull moment!!
