Wedding Venues Kelso

Recently the subject of BBC1 Scotland’s much acclaimed TV documentary “The River“, the spotlight has been thrown on to the historic cobbled town of Kelso in the Scottish Borders. Kelso is a popular destination for weddings and events and we can understand why: There are an amazing selection of venues, lots of accommodation providers (with that famous Scottish hospitality), excellent transport links to Edinburgh and Newcastle and a huge choice of suppliers from award winning caterers to talented florists. Some of our favourite wedding venues Kelso include:

Floors Castle

What could be grander than a Castle wedding? Floors Castle is no exception. Home to the 10th Duke and Duchess of Roxburghe, the Castle remains one of the most exclusive wedding venues in the Scottish Borders. With a ballroom, large dining room and numerous reception rooms all lavishly decorated, Floors is a truly wonderful setting for any event.

The perfectly manicured lawns, Victorian walled gardens and french parterres are perfect for marquees. We were delighted to work with Floors Castle on their wedding packages and look forward to telling you more very soon.

Cherrytrees

Although not strictly in Kelso, Cherrytrees is just a stones throw from the town. We have ranted and raved about this wonderful venue an awful lot but with good reason! Cherrytrees is a magical walled garden in the Scottish Borders countryside – a beautiful secluded venue for your intimate wedding or special celebration. With inspiring views across to the Cheviot Hills the garden houses a beautiful Victorian conservatory and terrace, providing a wonderfully elegant venue for weddings. It really is a secret gem!

Makerstoun House

A seriously underrated venue, Makerstoun House is just 4 miles south of Kelso. The history of the property dates back to the 1100’s although it has undergone many changes since then. The most significant of which was a partial rebuild after a fire in 1970. It was rebuilt based on the original William Adam plans (father to the much celebrated Robert Adam who designed much of New Town in Edinburgh). The redesign won the Award of Exceptional Merit in the European Architectural Heritage Year of 1974. The house provides a stunning backdrop for a marquee. In daylight you have amazing views down to the River Tweed and along the valley.

In February 2017 we provided a marquee to Makerstoun House for a grand ball and we very much hope to be working with the property again soon.
